The official RCX rulebook. Short, clear and fair—so wheel-to-wheel fights stay fun.

Behind the Apex

The car ahead at the apex owns the corner. The attacker must leave at least a car’s width, avoid contact and stay in control.

This principle makes battles predictable—hard but fair.

Championship Format

  • The championship is contested by three drivers.
  • Points (classified finishers): 1st 18 pts, 2nd 15 pts, 3rd 12 pts; DNF 0 pts.
  • Only classified finishers score points.

Fight Rules

  • Apex decides corner rights: the car ahead at apex dictates the line.
  • Always leave at least one car-width to your opponent.
  • Avoid unnecessary contact—“leave the space”.

Safety Car

  • No overtaking under Safety Car.
  • Maintain safe speed and follow the leader.
  • Race Control applies penalties for infringements.

Penalty Points

  • Infractions add penalty points (PP).
  • Examples:
    • Hit a cone: +1 PP
    • Hit a barrier: +2 PP
    • Unsafe driving / SC overtake / collisions: +1 to +5 PP depending on severity
  • At 20 PP: excluded from points classification in the next race (may still participate).

Time Penalties

  • Certain infringements require a pit-lane stop (time penalty).
  • Examples:
    • Hit a cone: +1 PP + 1-second pit stop
    • Hit a barrier: +2 PP + 1-second pit stop
  • Serve penalties in the pit lane; not during an SC you caused (allowed under SC caused by another driver).
  • Even “1 second” costs much more overall due to pit entry, limiter, and rejoin.

Example: Driver hits a cone → must pit and stop 1s. Typical total time loss ≈ 10s.

Race Conduct

  • Race cleanly; deliberate collisions lead to sanctions.
  • Dangerous driving can yield extra PP or disqualification.
  • Respect track limits at all times.
